Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been here the last few days, life sometimes spirals out of my control. This is life on an up. Running around, trying to get things done and being distracted by shiny things and never ever finishing anything. Let's see how this affects my food choices. Despite not being here for a few days I still remember what I ate. Still trying to decide if that is clever or sad...

Friday
Standard bagel breakfast
grilled (on multigrain bread) 1/3c. tuna salad, 1 sl. cheese and a tomato
Chicken Parmesan made by the amazing SeelieFey, garlic bread and chocolate cake (yep, totally blew it but it was so much fun)

Saturday
Banana
1.5 c. pasta, chicken, peas, 1 tbsp, pesto, piece of garlic bread (yep, hooked after Friday night)
homemade calzone with chicken, onions, cheese and sauce.

This was a food fail day as I completely overindulged in carbs and spend most of the day at my desk or other chores that kept me sitting.

Sunday
Scrambled eggs with kielbasa, cheese and peppers, 2 home made plain donut
The other half of my calzone. Way too much food for one day so I split it into two.
Tons of cleaning today so more moving than yesterday. Rumor has it that the weather will be nice enough to get me back walking. If not I dug out the yoga mat for backup.

Not the best choices but not the total blow out it normally is. I also found a study which breaks down workout routines by the types of medical conditions you may have. I looked up the three that concern me the most- diabetes, heart disease and depression (cuz it's easy to work out when you are on an up) and created a routine I think will work for me. All of them recommend 30 minutes of aerobic exercise, with at least 5 days. Weight lifting 20-30 minutes at least 3 days a week to put on muscle for the diabetes and yoga 2-3 days a week for the heart disease. Any exercise is good to fight depression so no worries there. Somewhere I remember a study that says that spending 20 minutes a day outdoors can rejuvenate the creative process and encourages clear thinking. This is the next step of the process. It's not just about eating better it's about being healthy in body and mind. I truly believe people are made up of 3 parts - the body, the mind, and the spirit. Getting them all aligned is my goal.

Last night the gang and I watched Julie & Julia. It was a cute little movie but I came away from it feeling like it didn't convey a cohesive message. The Julia side of the movie was about Julia Child finding her passion and love of cooking while the Julie side was about getting something finished. Both messages have merit but in the same movie they mixed like oil and balsamic vinegar. However it did get me to think about serious cooking again. Curse you tasty tasty food porn.

Thank you all for your encouraging words. Even if I don't tell you often enough, I read all your comments and take them to heart. The words help. :)
