(no subject)
Dec. 3rd, 2010 08:38 amI had the strangest dream last night. We were trying to organize people in a community when I came across an old friend sitting by a small waterfall. I haven't had this person as a friend in a few years. We don't talk anymore. They were so melancholy. So deeply sad. I reached out to help and offered my hand in friendship again. They took it but it didn't cure their melancholy even though they smiled. In the end I still watched them walk away from the new community we were building. It was bittersweet.

Old Vegas style
Jul. 31st, 2010 10:55 pmHere we are at the Sahara enjoying $1.00 shot and beer night. Totally worth the two block walk from the Riviera. This feels like old Vegas. Just right for Pinky and I.
Oh and we get to keep the shot glasses. Woot!

It's a lovely, cloudy morning here. They say Vegas never closes but that is not really true. About 4 am things get quiet, the flow of taxis slows to barely a trickle and the music that blares from every doorway is finally turned down to a predawn whisper. Two hours later and the business activity begins. Deliveries, buses bringing people to work. More home-like familiar sounds. Yet the Vegas most people think about won't really be in swing for about 3 more hours at least. I like this time of day as the city moves from the hush and the mountains to the illusion of a normal city. Make no mistake kids, the real illusion here are those hours when this place acts and seems like any other city in the country. It's not a normal city. It's heat and excess and indulgance and mesmerizing in it's slice of humanity.

Just so we understand- when one of these douchebags dies in a traffic accident I am sure it will have nothing to do with their weaving through Boston rush hour traffic on a game night nor will it be because they stopped dead center on every single crosswalk on Huntington blocking ALL pedestrian traffic. Grrrrr

One of the idle rich
Feb. 3rd, 2010 04:44 pmOr maybe just idle. My switchboard even says so
The phones have been down for an hour and a half here. I have kept myself busy by counting and sorting but man has it been slow. One of the girls in the office behind me has expressed shock and outrage that the fax isn't working. She doesn't get the connection between dead phones and no faxes. Lovely.

Well here we are at Arisia. The overflow hotel is fabulous. Right now Pinky and I have a quiet minute between panels so we are just relaxing while watching a special on an ice hotel. I will get into more detail on the con later but for now let mr just say it's been a good time.
What a cutie eh? This weekend has produced some HUGE changes for us but more on that later. For now it's time to go back to the Hyatt.
Later kids.
