My daughter has a habit of coming home from school with dvd set in hand to get Pinky and I addicted to some new show. If there is no dvd then its some uber hard to resist reality show. (we will not talk about our two day a week ANTM habit)
At the moment we are finishing up the first season of Glee.

*sigh*

damn it , i care. I care about Kurt and Quinn and Puck. I love Brittany's airheaded comments and Emma's eyes. There is a guilty pleasure in singing outloud to ever single song. I am jealous of both Emma and Kurt's wardrobe. Mercedes never fails to amaze me with her vocal power. Serious fun.

On the flip side Pinky and I have been working our way through all five season of the Wire. Before The Sopranos HBO had The Wire. If you have not had a chance to watch this go.. go now and rent or steam this show. Seriously some of the best television there is. It is gritty, well written and engaging. Or you can come here and watch it with us. I will gladly watch this show again. Just that good.

Also a few weeks back Tedivm decided he wanted to try Netflix. With his iPad now permanently attached to his hand it seemed like a good idea for ten bucks a month to be able to stream movies and television shows right to it or his computer. When he told us we could also stream through the Wii well that was the end of that. :) Eventually we will get rid of most of the cable I think. Last night looking through the movies I found not only one of my favorite Ginger Rogers movie but the Maya Daren movie I have had on my Amazon wishlist for years.

:)

I remember watching Maya Deren's films while in film school at San Fran state. They are beautiful, very surreal, and haunting. Some of the images from her film meshes of an Afternoon, have stayed in my mind all these years!

Do let me know what you think of the film dear lady, I am always interested to hear other peoples views on her work.

And the book, Divine Horsemen, is one of the books that is almost always mentioned to people who want to know more about the religion of voudou, it is an excellent resource.

Happy viewing dear!

I could watch an entire episode that was nothing but Brittany's thoughts on her day. I could watch a 3-hour film version. Not even any music necessary.
