Well my lovelies - It's couture time again.
Let's start this year with the good -
Lagerfeld - the master of graphic styling but ever so Chanel still. brilliant!

Chanel was brilliant this year with an all black and white pallet. Carl Lagerfeld is King of the catwalk with this stark but lovely collection.
Great oriental detail-

and more graphical detail. *swoon*

Dior also made a contribution

As did John Paul Gaultier with this dress that reminds me of Josephine Baker -

JPG presented what was my favorite suit of the whole season and in Black and White -

And this stunning frock from A.Hash

and more delicate floaty white -

and this lovely gown which reminds me of Star Trek TOS for some reason -

Lest you think it was all a two color season let me assure you some designers found color here at there - the next big trend is white and ...blue!
Dior went Dutch

While others went to the Orient -

And then there was the white and ...red. I am beginning to think that once again white is the new white.

Best jacket ever. Christian Lacroix showed what was, for him, an amazingly restrained collection. This jacket was by far the best piece -

he also had his models pretty in pink. (which is not red and white technically but is pretty)

There were also dressed with a modern flair

And color too. There were places with flashes of lovely color reminding us of the old Dutch Masters or some futuristic place. With couture the devil is in the details and this spring had those in abundance.
and of course Dior led the pack with beauty-

Elle Saab is of course brilliant again
with Obi-like bows -

and color so soft

and they found gold

and this from another designer

And last but not least this Valentino detail

This is just a taste of the collections and I have obviously skimmed over the details of all these collections. If you get a chance go to Vogue.com and check them out for yourself. There will also be a forthcoming post on the couture don'ts of the season and one on some of the cool details
Also because it's spring look for a designer Bridal post too. :)
