You have had mixed results with this sort of approach in the past. I don't think you should commit yourself to a course of action that you subsequently are unable to continue, because then you will make yourself feel bad about it, and that is potentially worse than simply having too much on your plate.
I've tried thast and never had success so I try to find another way - maybe not cut everything out - but only face things as needed and cut out as needed. that's what i try to do and it's been successful so far.
