As Above So Below

I have a friend who is struggling with her weight, which is adversely affecting her health. She laments the fact that she cannot control the gain/loss of yo-yo dieting. Another friend of mine remarked to me "With all that Priestess training you would think this would be easier for her."
But it won't help her because for all her training in self-awareness and the Magickal Universe she still thinks that Universe is something outside herself. She has learned the phrase *as above so below* but she doesn't understand them. If the Universe is full of beauty, magick and love then so is she. When she understands that she is the Love she thinks the Universe is made of then her life will get better.
Now this is not going to work for everyone. My Universe is not filled with love and light etc. etc. etc. but is a reflection of me. As Below so Above. If you feel lost, if you feel out of place think about how you view the Universe. I think you will be surprised how much it reveals about yourself.

i always thought that, originally, "as above so below" was the final phrase on an ancient Greek tomb/grave that, in effect, cursed the person buried there. Something about this is what you lived in life, so may you be condemned to it in death..As (you lived) above, so (may you live) below..

Nope. It is a Hermetic phrase which means God is man and man is God. The microcosim is the macrocosim etc. It is an idea which is repeated in many faiths in many places on the planet.
