A walk in the woods
Jun. 24th, 2006 08:11 amFor Ashke's birthday he got a GPS. The best reason to get one is Geocaching. So every day except one for the last week we have been out and about on a high tech treasure hunt. He has printed out the clues, arrainged them by city and put them in a notebook to take with us. Can a flow chart be far behind? Super geeky. I was amazed to find there are over 400 caches within a ten mile radius of us. Some require a bit of a hike like the ones we found up at the Knightsville Dam. The bonus to those is of course being outdoors, getting a workout and the beauty of Western Mass. The other kind are urban caches. Hidden in the surrounding cities are little Tupperware containers of cheap fun stuff to find. These are my favorite. I love the idea that they are just sitting there and people pass by them every day not knowing. Yesterday we went looking for one hidden along the Chicopee River. By the time we were done I was spooge covered, bug bitten, soaked from midcalf down ( there was some wading in the river due to the water levels being high)sweaty and tired. We did not find the cache either. Still all in all I had a great time. Simply watching Ashke get all excited makes it worth it at twice the price.
